Filtered Water vs. Boiled Water: Which Is the Best Choice for Your Health?

When it comes to the safety and quality of your drinking water, two very different methods come to mind: boiling and filtration. Both are regarded as the best methods to remove harmful contaminants effectively. Although they both provide cleaner and safer drinking water, they work in different ways, providing advantages and disadvantages. So, which method should you choose to keep your family healthy and hydrated?

Boiling Water

Every now and then, when a city gets flooded or a pipe bursts, you may see the city issue a “boil water advisory”. This will warn residents to boil their water before consuming it, allowing for all the harmful substances to be removed. Boiling water involves heating the water to a temperature where harmful microorganisms will be killed. This will usually be used during emergency situations.

Benefits

Boiling water has several benefits:

  • Pathogen Removal: Highly effective at killing and removing harmful organisms.

  • Chemical Free: Natural process of clean water.

  • Minimal Equipment: This does not require too much, just a pot, stove, and water.

Disadvantages

Although there are some great benefits to boiling water, there are also several disadvantages:

  • Chemical Contaminants: Boiling water does a great job of killing organisms, but it does not do a great job of removing harmful chemicals.

  • Energy Consumption: Requires energy, whether that is gas, electricity, or any other source. Can be energy intensive.

  • Time-Consuming: Will be a lengthy process to boil and let the water cool down to consume.

Filtered Water

Filtered water is water that moves through a water filtration system. Several types of systems will filter the water you drink but will essentially work to remove contaminants from your home.

Benefits

Because there are so many water filtration systems on the market, we will highlight the systems at Blu Technology which are NSF certified, meaning the water is tested and safe to consume.

  • Healthier: Our systems have a 0.2-micron size filter, which will remove harmful contaminants, metals, microplastics, and much more.

  • Taste & Odor: Our “tasty” filter is a charcoal carbon-activated filter that removes all the bad smell and taste ensuring good tasting water.

  • Cost Effective: Over time, our system is much more affordable than buying bottled water.

  • Environmental Impact: By using our system, you will reduce the use of plastic water bottles.

Concerns

While filtered water has many advantages, there are some disadvantages that it may come with but we here at Blu Technology have continued to innovate our ideas and products to ensure the system has no disadvantages.

Some of the bigger concerns:

  • Filter Replacement: Our filters typically last 3-4 months on full-time usage.

  • Cost: Our products vary in price, but we ensure every product we sell is safe and tested to make sure the consumer is getting safe water.

  • Space Consuming: We have created a 5-inch 3-stage filtration system that weighs 10 lbs.

  • Mineral Removal: Our system does a great job keeping all the good and necessary minerals in water.

Both filtered water and boiled water have their advantages. While boiling your water is great at killing microorganisms, it is more of a one-size-fits-all solution and will be best in emergency scenarios. On the other hand, using a water filtration system not only removes harmful substances, it also removes metals, and microplastics, and ensures the minerals are still in the water all while maintaining great taste.

We here at Blu Technology have made sure that no matter the situation, all of our products will ensure you are receiving great and safe drinking water. Whether you are using our 2-stage filtration systems such as the Duo, Adventure Series AR2, or R2. Our 3-stage filtration systems such as the Adventure Series AR3 5-Inch,  AR3 XLt 10-Inch, R3, and The TRIO. Each product is designed with the best interest of the customer in mind making sure you do not have to worry again about your water.
